About 🛠️ Open Source Tools
Open Source Tools is a structured directory of curated open-source software — not a blog. Each tool has a canonical page with metadata, alternatives, and comparisons so you can evaluate and choose quickly.
What we optimize for
We build for developers searching for the right OSS tool, and for AI assistants citing structured, factual data. Our platform aims to:
- Maintain canonical tool pages as the source of truth
- Generate programmatic discovery pages (alternatives, best-of, comparisons)
- Help developers find and compare tools by category, language, and use case
- Share weekly picks via newsletter — editorial content links in, never replaces tool pages
How It Works
We curate and categorize open source tools with structured metadata: license, language, GitHub stats, features, and alternatives. Aggregation pages like alternatives and best-of lists are generated from this data. When we publish deeper writeups, they link to the canonical tool page — they don't duplicate it.
Get Involved
We welcome contributions from the community! Whether you want to suggest a new tool, improve our documentation, or help with development, there are many ways to get involved.
